Legal Question in Family Law in New York
I was served divorce papers, there are no assests or kids and proporty has already been divided. Do I have to respond? I have no money for a lawyer and do not wish to contest anything. We were only married 4 yrs.

No. You do not have to respond. However, to make the process faster, you may want to speak to the lawyer and explain your position. Furthermore, although you may think there is nothing to be divided, the plaintiff's attorney may have a different idea.
