Legal Question in Family Law in New York

sole custody

I have sole custody of my daughter.

Am I obligated to provide her social security number and birth certificate to the noncustodial parent. He said that he needed it to file child support tax credit. I read on the IT-209 that it's not needed.

Re: sole custody

If you have sole custody, you are entitled to all tax credits for the child.

By the way - child support tax credit? Child support is non-deductable to him. Since you have custody and there is no order to the contrary, you get to claim the child as a deduction on your income tax.

However, check any orders that may give him the child as a tax deduction.
