Legal Question in Family Law in New York

if a sole parent gets full custody of a child, does the NOn custodial parent still have to pay child support or does child support stop?

If the custodial parent was already receiving child support, the payments will not stop.

If the custodial had requested child support with the custody petition the non-custodial parent will have to pay support.
