If his conduct is violent, she can press criminal charges. That will likely result in his removal from the home, but may not result in the boy receiving what professional assistance he may need. She can also file a PINS petition in Family Court. The cut off for a PINS Petition may be the age of sixteen. If it is, your friend will have to outline conduct that her son engaged in before he turned seventeen. Some courts will accept a petition set up that way, even if the youngster is well into his seventeenth year. If Family Court accepts the petition, there is a greater likelihood that your friend's son may recieve some services that he is need of in addition to being removed from the house.

Your friend can go to Family Court, and apply for an order of protection. An order of protection can include a provision that the son will have to vacate the home. If s/he cannot afford an attorney, s/he can ask the court about assigned counsel.
