Legal Question in Family Law in New York
Even though my son is 6 yrs old......I have not been fully in his life. I would see him 2 weeks per yr for 5 yrs ( I was serving as a Marine and 3 trips to Iraq). Now for the last 19 months my exgirlfriend has limited my contact with my son . She has often voiced she wants me out of their lives. We both know the possiblity of another man could be the father.
I do not feel there is a true father son bond has been formed. There has been 4 other men in his life he has had to call dad. She is telling him to say his last name is hers now. Due to all these conflicts I feel I want a DNA to settle the father and move on from there.
Orshould I just go to the court to settle the support and visitation boundaries.

A paternity test may remove all doubts as to who is the biological father; however, it appears that this is not what you really want. This is a case where it looks like you may need additional counseling to determine your true feelings about your child.
