Spouse's prior knowledge of pending divorce

Whether or not you tell your spouse in advance is a personal choice. Many people feel it is best to not hit their spouse with a "surprise" such as this, but you know your spouse better than I do, so you will have to decide based on your knowledge of his/her temperament, emotional state, etc.
