Legal Question in Family Law in New York

I would like to know if a step mother can file for permanent placement legally without me knowing and getting away with it. Would doing something like that void out the judgement made on that case?

You are required to be served properly and the courts should not proceed w/o proof of service. Even if she cannot find you, you can ask the court for them to order a method (e.g. newspaper). Petition to have this reversed due to lack of service, a bedrock of our legal system.
