Legal Question in Family Law in New York

student paying child support

Once paternity is established, how much does a teen father have to pay for child support if he's in college? and will the court force him to get a job on weekends to pay this?

Re: student paying child support

It is unlikely the court will attempt to make your son quit school or "get a job". NY is not Court TV.

However, he may be ordered to pay the minimum child support in NY ($25/month or $300 a year), if not more.

Any source of income or assets a student my have, including income from parents, grandparents, scholarships (not loans),etc., may

be used to calculate the child support owed.

GOOD LUCK,
