Suspension of Child Support Order

I have/had a child support order from the Brooklyn Family Court (BFC), NY. In 1998 the ncp petitioned the court to suspend the order. Much to my chagrin this was done without me being notified. From what I understand, it seems that the ncp claimed that he did not know our whereabouts. Is this grounds for the support order to be suspended? Does it matter that the ncp was delinquent in payments for 3 years? Please note that I was not advised in any way that the order was being modified. What are the guidelines for suspending a child support order?

Child support is to be paid until the child reaches the age of majority.

I don't believe the court should have ordered him to suspend your payments. Unfortunately, you will have to return to court to get the child support reinstated. You should get an attorney local to where the father lives. This will make it easier to compel his attendance at hearings.

Child support continues until the child reaches legal adulthood. You need to go into court and get the suspension order reversed.
