Legal Question in Family Law in New York

tape recorded phone conservations

My husband and I are in the process of divorce,the oyher day I discovered that he has been hiding a tape recorder and has been tapeing all my conservations with friends, family and my attorney. I distroyed the tape. Can you tell me if this legal for him to do and use it against me in court? I don't know if he has any more tapes.

In NY, it is only legal to tape a conversation that you are a part of. He may NOT secretly tape you w/ others (and it will not be admissible) BUT he may secretly tape a conversation between you and him.

This is a good man to be divorced from. Make a record of this action in case there are custody/visitation issues. It will tend to show that he is unstable and alienation issues are present.
