Terminating parental duty
My husband and I are presently getting a divorce. However I am pregnant and would like him to sign over his parental rights how do I go about that, and do I need a lawyer for this?

Re: Terminating parental duty
1. Congratulations (I hope this is right) on the blessed event.
2. You do not need a lawyer.
3. The 'rights' you refer to are largely visitation and the opportunity to contest an adoption.
He cannot avoid his duty to pay support.
4. I would recommend acting quickly before the impact of impending fatherhood hits him. He may insist on becoming an involved father. Having a child can have a big impact on a man.
