Legal Question in Family Law in New York

Is there a time limit to have a quadro drawn up after a divorce/ In my divorce papers it is staed I should receive a majauskas share of his pension and I was contacted by someone today. I dont have one written as of today but plan on retaining a lawyer to have one written up? Any time limit to have this done> We were divorced 14 years ago.

No. There is no time limit. However, I had a case where the wife waited several years before preparing and filing the QDRO. During that period of time, the husband removed the money and refused to divulge its location. My client had to commence an action. The one issue that we may have had - which we did not - was a statute of limitations problem. Thankfully, we were able to avoid that issue.
