Legal Question in Family Law in New York

I have a trial date set for custody of my two kids... But I think that my Lawyer has NOT represented me properly... thus far. What are the ramifications if I fire my lawyer? Thx.

If you do not retain another lawyer, you would have to represent yourself at the trial.
