Legal Question in Family Law in New York
What type of document is needed to be filed in response to being served with "Action for Divorce" papers?

That depends on what the papers say. It could be a Verified Answer or a Notice of Appearance.
If you do not wish to contest (I.e. you agree with the terms of the divorce), then you do not have to do anything, and the divorce will go through as is. If you have a problem with the terms (I.e. you think you may be entitled to something or your spouse is asking for something you object to), then you need to file a Notice of Appearance. I strongly suggest that you contact a lawyer if that's the case. Feel free to call us. 212-913-9907.
I suggest you consult an attorney right away to protect your rights. You may need to interpose an Answer and maybe with counterclaims.
