Legal Question in Family Law in New York

wedding ring

My fiance cancelled our wedding 6 monthes before the date. Legally am I supposed to get the ring back. I did not give it to her on a holiday (Jan 24 was the date). Do I have any legal ground on getting this back. Please repond to [email protected]

An engagement ring is a gift made in contemplation of marriage. If the wedding did not occur, you are entitled to the return of the ring.

Yes, you are entitled to get the ring back. Both the engagement ring and the wedding ring are considered to be "gifts in contemplation of marriage". You can bring a lawsuit to get the rings back.
