Legal Question in Family Law in New York

My wife and I are getting a divorce. She found her boyfriend over the internet and he resids in IL. She is deciding to move there along with my 7year-old daughter. I don't like the idea at all. I would like to know what rights do I have as a father?

Certainly you have the right to see your daughter, and your daughter has the right to be raised by both a mother and father.

You should petition the Family Court for an order directing the child to remain in New York so you would have the opportunity to enjoy a meaningful relationship with your daughter.
