Legal Question in Family Law in New York

Need Help

My wife filed for divorce, we purchased 2 new cars last yr and she took them both when she left saying they were in her name so she could have them, leaving me without an car. she kept the payments up until a month ago when i find out now she gave the car back to the finance co. she said she couldnt afford it anymore. I thought the cars were marital property and sh could not get rid of them until a judge told her she could in the equitable dist. hearing? do I have any recourse against her for giving the car back instead of asking me to take over the payments? What can the courts do about it in the equitable dist. hearing?
