Legal Question in Family Law in New York

Me and my wife are separating, during our 10 year marriage she accumulated a lot of credit card debt, even though I didn't sign up for the credit she put me on as a co signer. Most of charges are hers, my question is am I still responsible for half. Is there an agreement that we have to sign stating that she will pay for what she has charged.

A. Debt accumulated during the marriage is marital debt to be divided pursuant to equitable distribution.

Q. Is there an agreement that we have to sign stating that she will pay for what she has charged.

A. Yes. It is either a marital Separation Agreement or Settlement Agreement.
