First, is the husband Jewish? Second, was it a Jewish wedding with a Rabbi? Third, were you divorced in New York?

If your husband is Jewish and you were married in a religious ceremony and you were married in New York, you would have had to sign documents entitled "Removal of Barriers to Remarriage" which requires both you and your ex-husband to take all actions to allow the other to remarry. Therefore, contact your attorney and if your husband will not apply for the get, take him to Supreme Court and have him held in contempt for failing to act on his sworn responsibility.
