Legal Question in Family Law in New York

Over a year and a half now waiting for divorce,help

Hi i am a 25 yr old with sole custody of my son, i married 3 years ago, and for the past year and 8 mths of that i have been trying to get a divorce. I have an lawyer,so does he, we own nothing together,we share nothing but a child. Why is it taking this long, we both want this. Could it be our lawyers? We have had over 25 court dates and 17 adjurnments.I am getting tired of this, is their anything we can do to end this fast?

It might be the lawyers, it might be the courts, it might be something else. The best thing to do is first talk to your lawyer and ask him directly why so long. If you are not satisfied, go the court yourself and ask to speak to a clerk. or see if you can get the court file.
