Legal Question in Family Law in New York

About two years ago my fiancee decided he wanted to get married. I wasnot keen on the idea. So it was decided that we would get married in Maine while on a family vacation. I only agreed because I knew NY State does not recognize out of state marriages. We do have a NYS Marriage certificate, but I can prove we were no where near NY when we got married. Is this a valid certificate, and would the marriage be considered valid?

What you "know" is completely incorrect. New York and every other state recognizes marriages from out of state.

You're married.
