Legal Question in Family Law in New York
My younger brother is going through a divorce in the state of New York. He was served with divorce papers only 2 years after being married. The divorce documents state that he has 20 days to accept the terms listed or they will automatically go into affect. In other words, stating that he will be bound by that agreement without ever having any input. Does he has any legal recourse? Can he disagree with what is being requested from her (soon to be ex-wife) and request a hearing to negotiate the terms of the divorce?

If he disagrees with any aspect of the divorce he needs to file & serve an answer within the 20 day time frame or else he will be in default.
