Legal Question in Civil Litigation in New York

Car

im 21 and employed off the books. When I

was 17 I borrowed some money from my grandpa and paid back over 3000.

The car was registered and insured under my stepdad for ins. Reasons.

I've given money for my ins as well as other money to my parent. After I

got out of er I fell slightly behind $70. Now my stepdad cancelled the

ins and went to police to report car stolen. What rights do I have to

that car?

Forget about the car and move on. Legally, the car is your step-dad's. He can do basically what he wants with it.

More importantly, I don't know what the car is worth. Unless it's a brand new Mercedes, it's probably not worth your time or money! An attorney will likely cost more than you stand to recover. (I don't think you'll find an attorney that will touch this mess, for that matter.).

Also, get yourself a job that's NOT off-the-books. Why would you even post such information in a public place for everyone to read? Don't you realize it's ILLEGAL not to pay taxes?

At 21, you're a young person. It might not seem like it now but this whole thing will be a distant memory before you realize. Chalk it up as a learning experience and put it behind you.
