Car Fire Bad Mechanic

Brought car to this man rebuilt my engine 2 wks later

on 5/10/00 my car caught fire Won't Give me my Money Back. Tried to tell me it had nothing to do with the engine but to rebuiled a engine he had to take out the battery which "he" says caused the fire. I called a dealership and ask them they told me about it. Please call or write me back with any information thank you.

Like anything else--expertise is required to prove a case against the mechanic...i.e., you'll need, if you go to court, some type of mechanic to say that the work done caused the fire.

Short of that, try going thru your insurance carrier, if you have coverage.

You can also try to take the mechanic to small claims court with TWO damage estimates,go to arbitration (very relaxed rules)[not the judge], state your case, and hope for the best.
