Legal Question in Civil Litigation in New York

my car towed by private party

My car had developed mechanical problems. I decided to junk it. I left it in a private parking lot

and could not drive it . I luckily bought another car quickly and removed the plates from the original vehicle. After a few days the vehicle was towed by one of the stores adjoining the parking lot. It was towed privately by a local auto shop. I contacted the shop and they are overcharging me in my opinion for towing and storage. Question: since I will junk this car do I have to pay them? I offered

to remove the vehicle and junk it. What can they do in legal terms to any other cars or property that

I own?

Re: my car towed by private party

As I understand your question, you took junk and left it on private property. Now you don't want to be charged for the removal your junk.

How would you like it your friend comes into your home and relieves himself on the floor. He leaves and you hire a cleaning service. He doesnt want to pay because you never asked him to clean it up and he was going to flush it down the toilet anyway.

Enough said.

Mike.
