Legal Question in Civil Litigation in New York

Just had a civil court case last week, still waiting for decision by mail. I'm guessing I may have lost, because I was not familiar with court process. I always thought it was the defendant and I go back and forth presenting evidence as we go along; instead it was I present my case then ask questions, they present and ask questions, then close. I had lots of evidence still left to help my case that I didn't get to hand in. Unfortunately, I didnt realize that when a judge asks "do you rest", that meant I am done and can't hand in anything else to help prove the defendant was not honest. Was just reading up on how to appeal, but see I can't present 'new evidence', although its all the paperwork I initially brought with me and did not get to hand in. What options do I have?

You need to make a motion to re-open the case. You need to make this motion "yesterday." Not an easy motion. Did you order a transcript of the trial?
