Legal Question in Civil Litigation in New York

If a civil lawsuit is won, does that mean something illegal happened?

I was wondering if you could tell me the following: If someone wins a civil lawsuit, does that mean that the person they sued absolutely did something illegal? Or is it possible to win a civil lawsuit, even if the actions by the sued person are not illegal actions of any sort?

The second. A person can win a civil lawsuit by proving they were more probably than not damaged by the defendant in some way. Or a person can win a civil judgment if the Defendant for whatever reason shooses not to contest the Plaintiff's claims.

Should you like to discuss this or any other legal matter, you can call my office to schedule an appointment for a consultation or in the alternative, I can be reached for on-phone low-cost legal consultation at 1-800-275-5336 x0233699.

Illegality has nothing to do with civil law, only criminal law.
