Legal Question in Civil Litigation in New York
Is a Complaint to the Bar warranted?
Can a lawyer in NYC be reported to the Attorney Grievance Commission of the Bar if,OUT OF COURT and representing negotiations for his company,he intentionally misled and deceived me for 8 months? I am the aggrieved party. He knowingly and willfully lied to me after all this time, thereby producing bad faith negotiating. I stress that we have not YET gone to court but due to his disgraceful conduct, we will now have to.
Thank you very much.

You can report an attorney who has committed misconduct to the Grievance Committee but it would seem logical and prudent to first retain new trial counsel and discharge your current attorney before doing so.
Good luck!

I am not sure by your letter if the lawyer was your attorney or advisary.
It doesn't matter however. A lawyer may be disiplined if he fails to conduct himself as a lawyer, even if he is not acting in the capacity of being a lawyer.
Lying and cheating can lead to disbarment. On the other hand, you will have to understand that if the lawyer is an advisary, your complaint may not carry the weight you want it to. You will also be exposing your hand to the other side.
Get yourself a good trial lawyer. Speak to him about his strategy and then conduct yourself accordingly.
