Legal Question in Civil Litigation in New York

When I was convicted of arson 11+ years ago, there was also a judgement made against me for the insurance company of the building that burned. They have been garnishing my wages and their lawyer says that I should settle, but I can't come up with a lump sum. It will take them 30 years of garnishment to even come close to the original judgement against me without interest. Also, I know this judgement won't go away if i declare bankruptcy, so is there any help, hope or options?

Perhaps you can make them an offer to pay a smaller amount (1/4) over a shortened time period where you make extra payments in addition to the garnishment of your wages. That is only one suggestion that you may use to open a conversation about settlement.
