Legal Question in Civil Litigation in New York
What if you are a CPA and worked on a project for a few months, have a contract from day 1 to be paid per hour. You haven't still been paid after you finished your assignment. After you finish your project for your client, your client threatens you to either change the contract to his liking, or you won't get a single penny. Client demands that you change it from an hourly rate and into a contingency agreement, something you aren't really allowed to do since you are a CPA. Let's also say you agreed to your client's threatening demands and at least got paid a fraction of the total bill. Can you still sue him for unpaid bills related to contract #1? Is this duress/undue influence?
