what if you feel a layer is giving you the run around

I hired a lawyer to help me get back medical expenses and time loss from work from a business that is got sick after i ate there. He told me they settled for $3000.00 and mailed me a release form i sign and notorzed it and mailed it back and now he will not give me my money. Said it got lost in the mail two times and does not answer my phone calls what can i do to get what is owed to me
