Legal Question in Civil Litigation in New York

A fellow landscaper recently passed away tragically. His wife called our company and asked us to help her out. She had a customer who would not let her out of her plowing contract upon his death. She asked if we could plow the property for the rest of the remainder of the season. It was a verbal agreement. It was also a verbal agreement with the property owner I made him aware of the situation. After the last snow fall there was some damage done to the property. Am I contractually obligated to make the repairs?

You are liable whether the job was done gratuitously or for compensation. However, why do you not try to reason with the property owner and explain your dilemma considering you performed the job charitably and request that he work with you on the amount of damages.
