Legal Question in Civil Litigation in New York

Hi there. I had let my friend borrow a bag form me. Its now been 3 months and she still has not returned it. She did send a confirmation that She was going to return it last month but never did. She took me off her facebook so now I can not email her. I dont have an address of where she lives. I just have her cell phone number but she has yet to answer my text or pick up my phone calls. I still have a reciept that I had paided online to somebody for the bag and the confirmation email she had sent me. Without her address and her responding to my attempts to reach her, how should I go about reclaiming my things.

Use Yahoo People finder to find her or call information. Then file a claim in Small Claims Court, 111 Centre Street, 3rd Floor. It costs $10 or $15 last I recall.

Then again, If the bag isn't worth more than a couple of hundred dollars, I'd forget about it and simply move on. It isn't worth the hassle of Small Claims Court, which can be stressful, can require several appearances and can take many months to finally resolve.
