Legal Question in Civil Litigation in New York

My girlfriend of 5 years broke up with me and she is trying to keep items that I purchased for the home. All of the items are in my name and she only helped to pay for the elliptical. I called the police to see what will happen when I move out the rest of my stuff and they advised me that they will supervise the move to make sure that there isnt confrontation but if there is any dispute over items that I will have to leave stuff there then take her to court. She said that if we go to court that she will say that I lived there for 5 years and never paid rent but I contributed $400 - $500 a month to the home via different bills. Cell phones, cable, internet, furniture bill and food for the house. All I want are the items in my name and for her to buy me out for my portion of the elliptical. It was $1300 and she paid $500 and I paid the rest. She is only offering me $300. My plan is to take what I can and if the cop doesnt allow me to take items I will take her to court. What will be the outcome?

Take the $300 and accept the fact that you got screwed and it is what it is. Forget about court. Go out and find another girlfriend and get on with your life. Try to part on good terms if possible, or at least don't be bitter enemies. Takes too much emotional toll; not worth it. Move out and move on. Been there, done that.
