Legal Question in Civil Litigation in New York

harrassment by a neighbor

My 80+ neighbor has been falsely accusing my husband and I of all kinds of things since her husband died 6 years ago. The latest is: I am stealing her flowers ..and if I don't stop she'll call the police.

What is my recourse here?

If the defamatory statement is solely between you and your neighbor, you do not have a cause of action. In other words, it is not a legal issue.
