High, bought materials for a new kitchen. Man that installed everything wanted to date me. job was done in 6 months.
I went out with him for four years beginning of work till last December. I had to end the relationship because of alcohol and violent behaviour. Now 4 years later I am being sued for $15k labor costs. No written contract, and on supeona it says verbal agreement. But there was no specified time frame or amount from day one. Whats my recourse of action.

He should be paid for the amount of services rendered that enriched you in terms of property appreciation due to a new kitchen compared to before the initiation of remodeling. You may obtain estimates from three licensed kitchen remodelers regarding the value of services rendered. If he is not a licensed construction co., he is practically out of luck in New York; this may be your trump card.
