Legal Question in Civil Litigation in New York
Hi,
I took out a loan about 5 years ago to help my boyfriend at the time buy a car. After we broke up he stopped payments on the loan and it went to collections. At the time he disappeared and moved out of state but now he is back and I have relocated him. Is it too late to have a case against him? He owes me about 12,000 dollars.
Thanks,
Rebecca

No, it is not too late to begin a legal action to recover the money that he owes.

No but you should start an action very soon before the statute of limitations expires.

Statute of limitations period is 6 years from date you delivered the money to the boyfriend.
