Legal Question in Civil Litigation in New York

illegal cable

i am a small business owner who has been acused, of illegaly showing a close circuit broadcast. my problem is i dont have the money to defend such a case, but im curious to know if i have any other recourse, it seems as if i have none, number one ther affidavit is false, the private investigators, are not registered with the state of ny. what can i do to protect my self from such a crazy action, it seems like legal extorsion, they told me eithor i fight the case, and they will sue me for 500,000 dollars, or i settle immediatly for 2,000 no questions asked. lawyers tell me, it will cost roughly 50,000 dollars to defend, what should i do? what can i do?

I think that the estimate of 50,000 to defend

is off base

I think the hold-up demand to settle is

unsavory

I would defend it to the hilt

There is no other alternative
