When you initially file a case in a Federal court, which Federal court should you file it in? (I'm assuming a lower level Federal court.)
For example, do you file where you live, or where the key events occurred?
What kind of decision process determines where you file?
I'm assuming its different than the process of filing in a state court.

Q. When you initially file a case in a Federal court, which Federal court should you file it in? (I'm assuming a lower level Federal court.)
A. You would file in a District Court.
Q. For example, do you file where you live, or where the key events occurred?
A. It depends. Generally, if you want to be safe, you would file where the defendant resides.

A. There are entire law school classes devoted to this issue.
