Legal Question in Civil Litigation in New York

Insurance claim against me for accident i was not involved in

I received notice of a claim against me for sideswiping a car on the highway. There is a police report that i have not seen, nor was I a part of. I do not have insurance. Is a one sided police report proof of anything?

The fact that the police report is one sided means absolutely nothing, as this is a perspective of the police at the scene of the accident, and info taken from witnesses at the scene.

Furthermore, the police report in and of itself is only proof that there was an accident, and as to the statements taken therein - it can be challeneged in court.

While it's not proof, it's evidence that an accident occurred.
