Legal Question in Civil Litigation in New York
I lived with my ex girlfriend for 2 or the 3 years we were together. eight months ago she broke up with me but changed her mind and has been harrassing me ever since to go back to her. She recently found out I have a new girlfriend and has since threatened to sue me. She claims to have recorded every time I borrowed $20, $40, etc and is also claiming I broke her laptops CD player and I should owe for half the rent. We never had an agreement to split rent and I was not on either of 2 leases. I dont recall breaking her laptop. She never asked for any money until now and I don't remember how much I paid her back. Can she actually sue me for these things?

People can sue for anything. Whether she will win-I doubt it. She probably will go Small Claims. With regular curt, we do Motions for Summary Judgment, which show no way no how could the plaintiff prevail so not use wasting the court's time.
