Maintenance

Can you receive different amounts of maintenance during a ten year agreement if it is written out expressively in the agreement. Initial maintenance is $8,000. In four years maintenance would rise to 18,000 and in 7 years to 28,000. Maintenace would end at the end of the ten year period.

Maintenance is a regular periodic payment. The amount of maintenance can increase. However, you should check with an attorney to make suret hat the amounts are structured to be tax deductable, assuming you are the payor. The IRS, if they are not properly structured, can call it a property distribution.
