Legal Question in Civil Litigation in New York

i have a med mal case that has settled in june its a wrongful death med mal case, i agreed on a settlement and signed, now its been 3 months and i keep getting the run around from the attourney, he keeps sayin he has to get approval from the surrogates court, i only signed the settlement offer, i never received a breakdown on how the settlement will be distributed, there are 2 beneficieres involved i am the administrator of estate, is it normal for this last process of the case to take so long? or is it in my best interest to get further legal help,, help me please?

Yes, the settlement must be approved by the Surrogate Court and it appears that your attorney is taking the appropriate course of action.

The attorney is correct. You need approval from the Surrogate's Court.

If you want to check up on the attorney, you may go to Surrogate's Court and read the petition submitted by the attorney. That may ease your concern.
