Notice To Appear In Court

I have received a notice to appear in court with regard to a DUI case. I am not the accused. My name is listed in the complaintant section (in the notice) along with the police officer who arrested the defendant. What are my rights and obligations? Is it required to hire a local attorny?

Re: Notice To Appear In Court

To avoid a lot of future headaches, I recommend that you appear at the place and time shown on your notice and explain to the judge why they have the wrong person. Be sure to have the necessary proof such as driver's license, social security card, or such other evidence as you have demonstrating that you and the accused are different people.

Good luck.
