Legal Question in Civil Litigation in New York

NY Area - work related legal question

My wife was working as a teacher for 2 years. Here first year she received flawless reviews. During this year we had a death at our wedding which required us to postpone our scheduled honeymoon. We rescheduled for a holiday weekend which the district frowns upon usually. We went anyway and she supplied all lessons plans, etc. Her second year rolls around and its time to review for tenure. She then receives scathingly bad reviews all year and is fired 3/4 of the way through. At the end of the year, she was receives her final review with is again FLAWLESS. Also, she was approved to have a student teacher attend her classes to learn under my wife during her 2nd year - why would they do that if she was so bad?

The question is, is she entitled to some compensation? She now refuses to teach because of the experience and it has ruined her career. She now works as an office manager making 1/2 the money she used to.

Re: NY Area - work related legal question

Further review is needed to determine whether it was wrongful termination based on discrimination or some other inappropriate ground. You need to consult an attorney to determine if this was wrongful termination and if a lawsuit can be brought.

You can contact our firm if you need further assistance.
