Legal Question in Civil Litigation in New York

Online Identity Theft (Impersonation)

Someone, and I know who, is impersonating me online at a number of

personals web sites. They claim to be me, use my full name, and create

false personals ads with false sexually explicit information about me.

They also post pictures of me on these sites of which I own the

copyright. What are my legal rights in a situation like this? How does one

prove that this person is performing such acts, or can it be proven? Do I

have any legal protections for this type of identity theft?
