Legal Question in Civil Litigation in New York

Order to show cause

I hired an attorney who I have paid a lot of money ($7000) for basically no results and I have filled for fee arbitration, he has in turn charged me an additional $650 for drawing up a motion to show cause to be relived as my attorney and the case hasn't even went to arbitration yet. I have been ordered into court and cannot afford another attorney to represent me...not sure what to do

Re: Order to show cause

You should call him up and consent to be relieved inexchange for him withdrawing his motion and his $650 fee.

With litigation there are no guarantees and that is probably something in the retainer u signed stating that. You will probably lose arbitration and have to do a trial de novo. this can be costly. Unfortunately, litigation can be costly. This is a known risk.
