Legal Question in Civil Litigation in New York

primary residence

I was threatened to be sued. I am a teacher a student injured anoher student. I am in the process of looking for a home to buy will my insurance protect my primary residence from any lawsuit even though the occurrence happened before i purchased the property

We are a litigious society. Go and buy your house and stop worrying about an off-the-cuff remark by a student. Besides, even if the student was to attempt to sue you for is injuries, the proper defendant (in a negligence case) would have to be your employer. If he was to sue under a deprivation of civil rights claim (it sounds convoluted but I have seen it) your employer's insurance (assuming that you are employed by a government entity) would cover the cost of your defense. If you are not employed by a government, then there would be no civil rights claim.
