Legal Question in Civil Litigation in New York

Private Trial Association?

I know that some states (like Ohio) have private trial associations where retired judges settle cases out of court for a fee that is split equally by the two parties regardless of the judgement. Is there anything like this in NY state? I'm looking for something like judge Judy but without the cameras. Thank you.

Re: Private Trial Association?

What you are describing is "Arbitration." There are several organizations that will arbitrate a dispute for you. The American Arbitration Association (AAA), National Arbitration and Mediation (NAM) and JAMS.

LawGuru will not allow me to include their phone numbers. All can easily be found via search engine or yellow pages. Hope this helps.
