Legal Question in Civil Litigation in New York

Pro bono work for divorce?

I am a full time graduate student here in upstate New York, with two children. I want to file for divorce, but by no means have the financial ability to do that. Is there any way whatsoever that I can get a divorce taken care of with limited funds? I want to move on with my life, but it needs to begin with a divorce obviously and at this point I am financially unable to do so. I would appreciate any and all advice you can offer. Thank you so much!

Re: Pro bono work for divorce?

It depends if it is contested or uncontested. In other words, will there be an agreement that both sides want to be divorced?

The courts have consent divorce packets online with instructions, or there are some attorneys who charge a small fee for consent divorces.
